Have you ever sat back after finally learning something God had been trying to teach you for years and thought, “Dang, I could have avoided so much conflict if I had just taken heed sooner”?

I know I have.

There were lessons God tried to show me, but I was not ready to receive them. Looking back, I can see how listening sooner could have saved me from certain situations, unnecessary pain, and repeated disappointments.

But I also give myself grace because even when I did not understand the lesson, God was still working. He used the mistakes, the pain, the conflict, and even the consequences to shape me into the person I am today.

That is what I love about God: He wastes nothing.

He can take what hurt you and use it to heal you. He can take what broke you and use it to build you. He can take the years you thought were lost and use every experience to prepare you for where He is taking you next.

Yes, I wish I had listened sooner—but I am grateful that God never stopped teaching me. Even the bad became part of my growth.
