I wanted to share something I recently started doing.

Sometimes, the pain caused by what happened to us doesn’t leave as quickly as we forgive. We may genuinely forgive someone, but the hurt, betrayal, or childhood scar can still affect us. I’ve noticed that the longer I hold on to the pain, the deeper its impact becomes—and the harder it is to shake.

Today, I was watching something that triggered an old betrayal wound. Surprisingly, I’m grateful it happened because it revealed that the wound was not completely healed. More importantly, it pushed me into my Father’s arms.

I don’t handle pain well. I hate when my soul hurts, and I’ve spent a lot of time trying to avoid that feeling. But now I have found a true source of healing: Jesus. He is teaching me how to walk through the pain instead of fighting the people or situations that exposed it.

And y’all, this is hard.

Sometimes I ask God, “Will this blow ever get easier?” But I’m realizing that I cannot keep choosing to carry this pain alone. Fighting what I can see only trims the branches. It doesn’t remove the root. Eventually, those branches grow back, and I find myself experiencing the same pain again and again.

So now, I’m bringing the entire wound to Jesus and allowing Him to pull the root out of me.

I want to reach the place where familiar situations no longer trigger the same painful response because I allowed my Father to uproot what was buried inside me. That doesn’t mean what happened was acceptable. It means what happened will no longer control me.

God doesn’t only want to help us manage our pain. He wants to heal the places where that pain took root.

When something triggers you, don’t immediately become ashamed or assume you haven’t made progress. Sometimes a trigger is simply revealing the place where God wants to bring deeper healing. Let it push you into His presence.

I want my healing to show others what God can do. He is able to do exceedingly and abundantly above all that we can ask or think. We simply have to stop running from the pain and start running to Him with it.
